Royal Perth Yacht Club
About Royal Perth Yacht Club
The Royal Perth Yacht Club dates back to 1841, just 12 years after Charles Fremantle arrived to establish the Swan River Colony. There's a nice timeline here.
The club has a proud history of sailing, and had a much celebrated America's Cup win in 1983, taking the trophy from the New York Yacht Club after a 132 year tenure, with the yacht Australia II.
The club has two centres, one in Crawley, and one in Fremantle. It supports a range of venues - some seasonal - ranging from informal barbecues and picnics to more formal dining.
Sailing
The club participates in a wide range of sailing events and also has a training school for juniors and adults, including windsurfing lessons.
Mooring and marinas
The club has two marinas. The Crawley marina has 370-odd berths and hardstanding space. The Fremantle Annexe has 96 spaces and is ocean-side. It's a great base to explore this beautiful part of Australia's coast and Fremantle's heritage.
